Courses and lessons

Updated

Aniko has 6 free courses, all for SAT Math: 5 Math courses and Desmos for the Digital SAT. There's no Reading and Writing course, so for Reading and Writing you learn through study sessions, explanations and the AI tutor.

Each course is a series of interactive lessons. A lesson teaches one skill with worked examples and practice, then offers SAT-style questions to practice it.

The courses

  • Desmos for the Digital SAT: solve SAT Math faster with the built-in Desmos calculator.
  • SAT Algebra: linear equations, functions, systems and inequalities.
  • SAT Advanced Algebra: expressions, and quadratic, radical, rational, polynomial and exponential equations.
  • SAT Nonlinear Functions: quadratic, exponential, polynomial and rational functions and models.
  • SAT Data Analysis: ratios, rates, percents, statistics, probability and study design.
  • SAT Geometry and Trigonometry: area, volume, triangles, trigonometry, circles and coordinate geometry.

Together they hold more than 100 lessons. Each course page groups its lessons by level, from Beginner to Advanced. The Desmos course goes up to GOAT Mode.

Where to find them

  • In the app: click Courses in the top menu. On a phone, it's under More.
  • In Free Resources: the same courses are at Free SAT courses, with no account needed.
  • Under an explanation: many Math questions list Lessons that teach this, so you can go from a mistake straight to the lesson.

Courses are free on every plan.

What's in a lesson

Each lesson shows its level and an estimated time, usually 25 to 50 minutes. A lesson includes:

  • short explanations of the skill and when to use it;
  • worked examples that go step by step;
  • quick checks: a question to test yourself, then Show answer;
  • practice problems with Show hint, and Show worked solution after a couple of wrong tries, many with Desmos beside them;
  • a recap at the end.

Lessons are text and interactive problems. There are no videos.

Most lessons end with Practice this lesson, which puts what you learned to work on SAT-style questions. Pick a difficulty (Mixed, Easy, Medium or Hard) and up to 10 questions you haven't answered, then click Start Now or Start Later. Either way, a study session appears in today's study plan. Its questions use your weekly question allowance on the Free plan.

Your progress

A lesson's progress grows as you read through it and get its practice problems right. It's complete when you reach the end and have answered every practice problem correctly. Each course page shows your progress on every lesson.

Signed in, your progress is saved to your account, the same in the app and in Free Resources. Signed out, it's saved in your browser only.

To start a lesson over, click Reset lesson at the top. It clears your progress, practice answers, highlights and calculator work, and you can't undo it.

Lessons in your study plan

Your study plan adds lessons when they can help with mistakes you've been making. They show as tasks like "SAT Algebra · Lesson", and the task is done when you complete the lesson. You can also add a lesson yourself with Add to study plan at the top of the lesson.

Note

Lessons take time in your day, but they don't count toward your plan completion or the Lock-In Challenge's daily minimum. See How is study plan completion counted?

Ask the AI tutor

In the app, every lesson has the AI tutor beside it. Click Open chat if it's hidden. It knows the lesson you're on, so you can ask about any step or example. Each lesson keeps its own conversation. Messages count toward your AI tutor allowance on the Free plan. See What can the AI tutor do?

The chat isn't on lesson pages in Free Resources. Open the lesson from Courses in the app to use it.
