Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

Here is the short version

Aniko is built to be private by design. Your study profile is public so you can share your progress and motivate others, but we deliberately keep it anonymous: we encourage you to use a nickname and an anime avatar instead of your real identity. The only personal, identifiable data we store is the email you sign in with and, if you opt into the Score Guarantee, your legal name. Your legal name is encrypted, stored securely, and used only to confirm that an official score report belongs to you. We also use limited campaign and conversion information to measure advertising, with a direct opt-out below. We do not sell or rent your personal data. This summary is a quick overview and does not replace the full policy below.

Your Privacy Choices

Aniko runs advertising campaigns directed to adults in the United States, including parents and guardians. We do not display third-party advertising on Aniko. We use limited, pseudonymized conversion information to understand which ads lead to registrations and purchases and to help advertising platforms improve the delivery of our ad campaigns. We never sell your personal information. You can disable advertising measurement at any time.

Advertising measurement

This choice controls future conversion sharing with advertising platforms and Rewardful. It does not affect sign-in, security, or first-party records used for internal reporting and legal obligations.

1. Who we are

Aniko is an online SAT preparation platform operated by San Junipero Ltd, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, San Junipero Ltd is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us any time at hello@aniko.ai.

2. Our privacy-by-design approach

Aniko works a little like a study-focused social network. Every student has a study profile, and these profiles are public: your nickname, status, avatar, study analytics, and progress can be viewed by anyone on the internet, including people who do not have an Aniko account, and these pages may be indexed by search engines. We believe that sharing progress is motivating, but we also believe you should not have to reveal who you are to take part.

For that reason, your public profile is designed to be anonymous. When you set up your profile, Aniko encourages you to pick a nickname and an anime avatar rather than your real name and photo. The information shown on a public profile is intended to be non-identifying, so that others can follow your SAT journey without learning your real-world identity. Because your profile is public, please do not put anything in your nickname, status, or avatar that could identify you or that you would not want others to see. Your anonymity is only as strong as the details you choose to share.

3. The information we collect

We keep a clear line between personal data that can identify you, which we store securely and never make public, and the pseudonymous study information that powers your public profile.

Personal data we store securely (not public)

  • Email address. We use the email you sign up with to create and secure your account, to sign you in, and to send you essential service and (where you allow it) optional updates.
  • Legal name (Score Guarantee only). If, and only if, you opt into the Score Guarantee, we collect your legal name so we can confirm that an official SAT score report belongs to you. Your legal name is encrypted, stored securely, and is never shown on your public profile.

Public, non-identifying study profile

The following information is displayed on your public study profile and is meant to be pseudonymous. We encourage you to keep it that way by using a nickname and an anime avatar:

  • Your chosen nickname and status message.
  • Your profile picture or avatar.
  • Your study analytics and progress, such as practice activity, scores, streaks, achievements, and estimated score ranges.

As noted above, this profile information is public and visible to anyone on the internet, so keep it non-identifying.

Payment information

If you subscribe, your payment is handled directly by our third-party payment processor. Aniko does not see or store your full card number or other complete payment details. We keep only limited billing records needed to manage your subscription, such as your plan, status, and a payment reference.

Information collected automatically

Like most online services, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information when you use Aniko, such as your IP address, device and browser type, and basic usage and diagnostic logs. We use this to keep the service secure, running, and reliable. We follow the principle of data minimization and collect only what we need to provide and protect the service.

When you arrive through a campaign or referral, we also collect campaign-attribution information and record conversion activity such as registrations, trials, purchases, and refunds. We use limited identifiers, including your email where needed, to match conversions accurately. SAT answers, scores, tutoring conversations, and study activity are never used for advertising measurement.

4. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, personalize, and improve your SAT prep experience.
  • Operate your public study profile and the social features of the platform.
  • Create and secure your account and authenticate sign-in.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Measure which campaigns lead to visits, registrations, trials, purchases, and refunds, and help advertising platforms optimize campaign delivery.
  • Administer the Score Guarantee, including confirming your name and reviewing claims, if you choose to take part.
  • Communicate with you about the service and respond to your requests.
  • Keep the platform safe and fair, including detecting and addressing security issues, fraud, cheating, platform manipulation, bullying, and other abuse.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

We rely on the legal bases of performing our contract with you, your consent (for example, for optional marketing emails), our legitimate interests in operating and securing the platform, and compliance with legal obligations.

To keep challenges and the community fair, we monitor study and account activity and use automated checks to detect cheating, manipulation, and abusive behavior. Where our checks indicate a problem, we may take enforcement action, such as limiting your profile's visibility or restricting your account, as described in our Terms of Service.

5. Your tutor and study activity

To power your tutor and personalize your study plan, your messages with Aniko and your study activity are processed by a third-party service provider on our behalf. This processing is what lets Aniko answer questions, adapt your plan, and track your progress.

We do not attach your real-world identity to this activity. Beyond the email tied to your account, your tutoring conversations and study data are kept within the pseudonymous, profile-based model described above.

We use this data to deliver and improve your tutoring experience. We do not sell it, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and we do not permit it to be used to train third-party models for purposes unrelated to providing Aniko to you.

6. The Score Guarantee and identity verification

The Score Guarantee is optional. If you take part, some additional data handling applies so we can confirm that a score report genuinely belongs to the student who used the account. The full program rules are in the Score Guarantee Terms.

Name confirmation and verification

  • Before test day, you confirm the legal name exactly as it will appear on your official College Board score report.
  • At claim time, identity verification confirms that the score report belongs to you. Students who are 18 or older verify themselves. For students under 18, a parent or legal guardian completes identity verification and confirms the student's score-report legal name.
  • Identity document and biometric checks are handled by a specialist third-party identity verification provider, not by Aniko.

What we store for the guarantee

  • The encrypted legal name of the student.
  • The encrypted name of a parent or legal guardian, when applicable.
  • The encrypted email of a parent or legal guardian, when applicable.
  • Verification status and timestamps.
  • Score report files, or data extracted from them, when you submit a claim.
  • Claim review status, outcome, and audit metadata.

What we never store

We do not store raw identity document images, selfies, biometric templates, full identity reports, or government ID numbers. Where the verification provider's flow supports it, identity-check data that does not belong to Aniko is removed from that provider once the check is complete.

How we use guarantee data

We use score reports and verification data to validate guarantee claims, to detect edited or fraudulent reports, and to administer remedies. As part of preventing abuse, we may review for account sharing, payment abuse, identity mismatch, and suspicious usage patterns.

7. How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf and under contract, and only as needed to run Aniko. These providers fall into the following categories:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure (running and securing the platform and database).
  • Payment processing and identity verification.
  • Email delivery.
  • Tutoring and language processing.
  • Product analytics and performance monitoring.

When advertising measurement is enabled, we use service providers to securely route limited, pseudonymized conversion events, measure campaigns across the advertising platforms where we run ads, attribute affiliate referrals, and understand aggregate website performance. These providers process information only for these purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may also disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Aniko.

8. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We also use privacy-conscious analytics and performance monitoring to understand how the product is used and to improve it.

We use a first-party cookie to remember initial campaign attribution and your advertising measurement choice. Advertising measurement is enabled by default. You can stop future conversion sharing with our advertising measurement and affiliate providers at any time using Your Privacy Choices. Essential authentication and security cookies continue to operate.

9. Data security

We take security seriously. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS). The sensitive personal data we hold for the Score Guarantee, such as legal names and any guardian email, is additionally encrypted at the application layer using strong, industry-standard encryption (AES-256-GCM) before it is stored.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. We restrict and monitor access to personal data, and we design our systems so that public study profiles never expose the personal data described in this policy.

10. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.

  • Account data, including your email and pseudonymous study profile, is kept while your account is active.
  • Campaign-attribution and conversion records are kept while needed for internal reporting, campaign measurement, fraud prevention, and legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Your tutor conversations and study activity are retained to provide continuity in your learning and are removed in line with account deletion.
  • Score Guarantee records, including name-confirmation, verification status, submitted score reports, and claim decisions, are retained for as long as needed to administer the guarantee and to keep an audit trail for fraud prevention and legal compliance, after which they are deleted or anonymized.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. Under UK and EU data protection law, and under various US state privacy laws, these may include the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Delete your personal data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
  • Opt out of advertising measurement and conversion sharing.
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@aniko.ai. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

12. Children and minors

SAT preparation often involves students who are under 18, and protecting younger users is central to how we built Aniko. Our pseudonymous, minimal-data approach is designed to put the best interests of the child first: public profiles do not require a real name, we encourage nicknames and anime avatars instead of real photos, we collect only the data we need, and we do not show advertising inside Aniko.

We treat the best interests of the child as a primary consideration and design for high privacy by default, consistent with the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code). Anonymity is the core safeguard that makes our public study profiles appropriate for younger users: a profile is designed to be non-identifying, so that even though it is public, it does not reveal a child's real-world identity. We ask students not to add identifying details and minimize the data we collect. Tutoring conversations, SAT answers, scores, and study activity are not used for advertising measurement. We keep this approach under review so that the protections continue to match the way the platform is used.

The age at which a young person can consent to online data processing varies by country, from 13 in the United Kingdom and United States up to 16 in parts of the European Union. We apply additional protections to younger users in line with the rules that apply where they live.

Where the Score Guarantee involves a student under 18, identity verification is completed by a parent or legal guardian rather than the student, as described above. Aniko is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, or you would like to review or delete it, contact us at hello@aniko.ai and we will act promptly.

13. International data transfers

Aniko operates from the United Kingdom and works with service providers that may process data in other countries. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms, to protect it consistently with this policy.

14. Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting hello@aniko.ai. When you delete your account, we delete all of your data, including your email, your pseudonymous study profile, your study history and progress, and any Score Guarantee identity and claim records, except where we are required to retain limited information to comply with legal obligations or to resolve disputes. This action cannot be undone.

15. No affiliation with College Board

Aniko is an independent SAT tutoring platform and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or approved by the College Board. SAT is a registered trademark of the College Board, which was not involved in the production of, and does not endorse, this product or service.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will try to provide reasonable notice. The latest version will always be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
