Legal terms

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Here is the short version

Aniko is your AI SAT tutor. You can study for free, or subscribe for full access. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel online at any time. Eligible new subscribers get a free trial, so you can try Aniko and cancel before it ends at no charge if it is not for you. Your study profile is public but anonymous, and we expect everyone to play fair: bullying, cheating, and gaming the challenges can get a profile hidden or banned. These terms are offered alongside your legal rights as a consumer, not instead of them. This summary is a quick overview and does not replace the full terms below.

1. About these terms

Aniko is an online SAT preparation platform operated by San Junipero Ltd, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom ("Aniko", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and San Junipero Ltd governing your use of the Aniko website, apps, and services.

By creating an account or otherwise using Aniko, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Aniko. These terms work together with our Privacy Policy and, if you take part, our Score Guarantee Terms.

2. Eligibility and your account

To use Aniko you need to register an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login details secure. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

  • Your account is personal to you and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
  • You must be old enough to use Aniko, as described in the next section, and you must use it in line with these terms and applicable law.
  • You are responsible for the devices, software, and internet connection you use to access Aniko.

3. Children and minors

SAT preparation often involves students who are under 18, and protecting younger users matters to us. Aniko is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account.

If you are between 13 and 17 (or under the age of majority where you live), you may use Aniko only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf and supervises your use. Because a minor cannot enter into a binding contract on their own, the parent or legal guardian is the contracting party responsible for the account and for any payments.

The age at which a young person can consent to online data processing varies by country, from 13 in the United Kingdom and United States up to 16 in parts of the European Union, and we apply additional protections to younger users accordingly. How we handle children's data is described in our Privacy Policy. Parents or guardians can contact us at hello@aniko.ai with any request relating to a student's account.

4. The Aniko service and our use of AI

Aniko provides a personalized, conversational SAT tutor: adaptive practice questions and tests, study plans, progress tracking, explanations, and motivational coaching. Some features depend on your plan, and we may add, change, or remove features as the product evolves.

Aniko uses artificial intelligence to help create practice content and explanations, personalize your study plan, and carry out repetitive tasks at scale. This lets us offer a large, adaptive question bank and a tutor that responds to you in real time. Aniko combines this AI with curated College Board-aligned material and validation processes so that the prep experience stays high quality.

5. Public profiles and community

Aniko works a little like a study-focused social network. Every student has a study profile, and these profiles are public: your nickname, status, avatar, and study analytics can be viewed by anyone on the internet and may be indexed by search engines.

Public profiles are designed to be anonymous, and we encourage you to use a nickname and an anime avatar rather than your real name or photo. You are responsible for what you put on your profile. Do not include anything in your nickname, status, or avatar that identifies you or someone else, that is offensive or inappropriate, or that you would not want to be public. For more on how this works, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

Aniko is built for genuine, personal SAT preparation in a fair and supportive community. When you use Aniko, you agree not to:

  • Bully, harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other students, our team, or anyone else, or post hateful, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Cheat, or use tricks, bots, scripts, or automation to manipulate study activity, points, streaks, leaderboards, or any challenge.
  • Manipulate or interfere with the platform, including attempting to game ranking systems, falsify progress, or exploit bugs or limits.
  • Share, sell, or transfer your account or access, or use Aniko on behalf of someone else in a way that misrepresents whose work it is.
  • Scrape, copy, reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute Aniko content or any part of the service, except as expressly allowed.
  • Break the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access.

7. Challenges, leaderboards, and prizes

Aniko may run optional challenges with leaderboards, leagues, and prizes. Taking part is voluntary. Where a challenge offers prizes, the specific rules, eligibility, timing, and prize details are set out in the official rules for that challenge, which apply in addition to these terms.

Our challenges are contests of skill, not games of chance. Winners are determined by performance under the challenge scoring formula, such as questions answered, accuracy, and difficulty over the relevant period, and not by luck or random selection. No purchase is necessary to enter or win: a paid subscription is not required to take part, and a free way to participate is available. Buying a subscription does not improve your chances of winning.

To keep challenges fair, we operate automated cheating- and manipulation-detection. If our checks indicate that an account has cheated, manipulated activity, or otherwise broken these terms, we may flag the account, disqualify it from a challenge, remove or adjust points and rankings, and withhold or reclaim any prize. We may suspend, modify, or end a challenge, and substitute a prize of equivalent value, where reasonably necessary, for example to address abuse, technical problems, or legal requirements. Prizes may be subject to verification, are void where prohibited, and you are responsible for any taxes that apply to a prize you receive. Where a winner is under 18, we may require a parent or legal guardian to claim and receive the prize on the student's behalf.

8. Enforcement, suspension, and bans

To keep Aniko safe and fair, we monitor study and account activity and use automated checks to detect cheating, platform manipulation, bullying, and other abuse, as described in our Privacy Policy. Where we reasonably determine that these terms have been broken, we may take action proportionate to the issue, including:

  • A warning or correction, such as resetting manipulated points, streaks, or rankings.
  • A profile-visibility ban, which makes your public study profile invisible to others while you keep access to the study material and the rest of the platform.
  • A full ban, which removes your access to the platform.

We aim to act fairly and to match the response to the seriousness and repetition of the behavior. If you believe we have made a mistake, contact us at hello@aniko.ai and we will review it. Enforcement action for breaking these terms does not entitle you to a refund, except where a refund is required by law.

9. Subscriptions, billing, and automatic renewal

Aniko offers a free plan with limited access and paid subscription plans (currently Essential, Premium, and Unfair Advantage) on a weekly or monthly billing cadence. Some students access Aniko through sponsored access codes from a school, tutor, or community, or through account credits such as friend-invite credits. The plan, price, and billing frequency that apply to you are the ones shown to you at checkout.

Paid plans are sold on an automatic-renewal basis. This means:

  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (each week or each month) until you cancel.
  • We charge the recurring price shown at checkout to your payment method at the start of each renewal period, including after any free trial converts to a paid subscription.
  • To avoid the next charge, you must cancel before your current period ends.
  • Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). Aniko does not store your full card details.

If you change plans, the change and any prorated billing take effect as shown to you at the time of the switch. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may pause or limit paid access until payment is resolved.

10. Free trial

Eligible new subscribers may start with a free trial (currently 3 days). The free trial is the best way to try Aniko before you pay.

  • Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the trial automatically converts into a paid subscription at the price and cadence shown when you started it.
  • If Aniko is not for you, you can cancel during the trial at no charge.
  • Free trials are for new subscribers and may be limited to one per person.

11. Cancellation and refunds

The free trial is your satisfaction period. It lets you try Aniko in full and cancel at no charge before it ends if it is not right for you, so paid subscriptions begin only after you have had the chance to decide.

You can cancel your subscription at any time, online, from your account settings. Cancelling is as easy as signing up. When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing and your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Except for the free trial described above, the Score Guarantee, and any rights you have under law, subscription payments are generally non-refundable, and cancelling does not refund the current period. Nothing here removes any statutory refund or cancellation rights you have as a consumer; those rights continue to apply where the law gives them to you.

That said, we take a satisfaction-first approach. If you forgot to cancel, email us at hello@aniko.ai within 7 days of the charge. If you have not used Aniko since that charge (no questions answered, practice tests taken or AI tutor messages sent), we will refund that payment and cancel your subscription. This includes the first charge after a free trial. If you are ever unhappy, reach out to us at hello@aniko.ai and we will do our best to sort it out.

12. Prices and changes to plans

We may change our prices and plans. Any price change to your subscription applies to future billing periods, not to a period you have already paid for, and we will give you reasonable advance notice of a change to your recurring price before it takes effect so you can decide whether to continue. If you do not want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before it applies.

13. The Score Guarantee

Aniko offers an optional Score Guarantee. It is a separate, voluntary program with its own eligibility rules, claim process, and remedies. If you take part, the Score Guarantee Terms govern that program and control in the event of any conflict with these terms on guarantee-specific matters.

14. Intellectual property, trademarks, and your content

Aniko and its content, features, and functionality, including the question bank, study plans, explanations, software, and branding, are owned by San Junipero Ltd or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Aniko for your own SAT preparation in line with these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from Aniko except as expressly allowed.

"Aniko", the Aniko name and logo, and our related brand elements and marks are trademarks of San Junipero Ltd, whether or not marked. These terms do not grant you any right or license to use them. You may not use our trademarks, or any confusingly similar sign, without our prior written permission, and you may not use them in a way that is misleading, disparaging, or that suggests an endorsement, affiliation, or partnership that does not exist. We reserve all rights in our trademarks and will enforce them.

You keep ownership of the content you submit, such as your answers, messages, and profile details. You grant Aniko a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, use, and process that content as needed to operate, personalize, secure, and improve the service, consistent with our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share anything you submit.

15. Third-party services

Aniko relies on third-party services to operate, including payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, hosting, and analytics, and we link to community spaces such as our Discord server. Your use of a third party may be subject to that third party's own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. SAT material references the College Board as described below.

16. Disclaimers

We work hard to provide a high-quality, reliable service, and we provide Aniko using reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, and other than the express promises we make to you, including the Score Guarantee where you qualify and your statutory rights, Aniko is provided on an "as available" basis and we do not make other guarantees about uninterrupted or error-free operation. This section does not limit your legal rights as a consumer.

17. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where it applies.

Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, Aniko is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. This allocation of risk reflects the nature of the service and your statutory rights are unaffected.

Also subject to the first paragraph above, and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to Aniko or these terms is limited to the total amount you paid us for the service in the 6 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this section affects liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

18. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Aniko at any time, and you can permanently delete your account from your account settings, or by contacting hello@aniko.ai, as described in our Privacy Policy. Cancelling a paid subscription is handled as set out above.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if it is necessary to protect Aniko, our users, or the public, or if we are required to do so by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why. If we terminate your account because you broke these terms, you are not entitled to a refund except where the law requires one.

19. Changes to the service and these terms

We may update Aniko and these terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, legal requirements, or improvements. If a change to these terms is material, we will try to provide reasonable notice before it takes effect. By continuing to use Aniko after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. The latest version will always be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.

20. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, where you take part, the Score Guarantee Terms, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of Aniko and replace any earlier agreements on that subject.
  • Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect, and the invalid part will be applied to the fullest extent allowed by law.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a right or provision, that is not a waiver of it, and we may still enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these terms or your account without our consent. We may assign or transfer these terms, for example as part of a reorganization, merger, or sale of our business, provided your rights under these terms are not reduced.
  • Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages, network or hosting failures, or other force majeure events.

21. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or state of residence give you additional rights that cannot be waived. You may have local consumer rights in addition to the rights described here, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts where the law allows. If you are a resident of the United States, the dispute resolution and arbitration section below also applies to you.

22. Dispute resolution and arbitration (US residents)

This section applies only if you are a resident of the United States. Please read it carefully. With limited exceptions, it requires you and Aniko to resolve disputes by individual arbitration rather than in court, and it waives class actions and jury trials.

Talk to us first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly. Before starting arbitration, please contact us at hello@aniko.ai and give us 60 days to try to resolve the dispute informally and in good faith.

Binding individual arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and Aniko agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to Aniko or these terms will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Arbitration may take place by document submission, phone, or video where the rules allow.

Class action and jury waiver. Disputes will be handled only on an individual basis. You and Aniko waive any right to a jury trial and to bring or take part in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action.

Exceptions. Either of us may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may ask a court for an injunction or other equitable relief to address misuse of intellectual property or unauthorized access to the service.

30-day opt-out. You can opt out of this arbitration section by emailing hello@aniko.ai within 30 days of first accepting these terms, stating your name and that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these terms.

Coordinated filings. If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are submitted in a coordinated way, they may be administered in batches to keep the process efficient and fair to everyone.

If the class waiver does not hold. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, only that claim will proceed in court, and the rest of this section continues to apply.

23. Your statutory rights

These terms, and any guarantee we offer, are provided in addition to, and do not limit or replace, your legal rights as a consumer. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where it applies.

24. No affiliation with College Board

Aniko is an independent SAT tutoring platform and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or approved by the College Board. SAT is a registered trademark of the College Board, which was not involved in the production of, and does not endorse, this product or service.

25. Contact and support

If you have any questions about these terms, our team is always by your side at hello@aniko.ai or via chat on our Discord server. You can also write to us at San Junipero Ltd, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. You may also want to review our Privacy Policy and Score Guarantee Terms.
