My study plan is empty or a task won't work

Updated

Most empty plans have a simple cause: the diagnostic isn't finished, your test date has passed, it's a rest day, or the day isn't planned yet. Find the message you see below, then follow its fix. For how your plan fills each day, see How is my study plan built?

Your plan is empty

  • "Finish the diagnostic tasks to unlock your personalized study plan." Your plan starts once you finish the diagnostic, the short sessions you take when you sign up. Finish them on Study Plan. See How does the diagnostic work?
  • "Preparing your personalized study plan. This may take a few minutes." Reload the page after a few minutes.
  • "Your test date has passed." Your plan runs up to your SAT date. Pick a new date in the banner and click Update & generate plan, or change Test date in Study Plan Settings. If you took the SAT, add your score too. See Add an official SAT or Bluebook score.
  • Rest day, or "Today is a day off." on Home: it isn't one of your study days. To study that day, select it under Intensity in Study Plan Settings.
  • No tasks yet, with "Assigned closer to the date based on your progress": your plan fills in your next few study days, and later days fill in as they get closer.
  • No tasks on a study day: its tasks may have been moved or deleted. Aniko refills a study day that's short of tasks, so reload a little later, or start a session from Home with Study Session.

On the Free plan, your tasks stay when you use up the week's questions, but study sessions pause until Monday. See Why did my study plan stop on the Free plan?

A task is grey or won't open

  • Grey, with "Outdated" when you hover: the task has been archived, usually because it's more than about 2 weeks old. It can't be opened, but any work you did in it is saved.
  • "Your plan moved forward": the task came from an older version of your plan. Click Got it and continue with today's tasks.
  • A practice test you can't resume: a started test left untouched for 14 days is archived. See Pause and resume a practice test.

A session ends early or won't start

  • You used your questions for the week or month. On the Free and Essential plans, Aniko takes you to Home, and you can finish the session once your allowance resets. Review Labs don't use your allowance. See Free plan limits.
  • "You've reviewed all available errors for this topic." A Review Lab you start yourself ends when you run out of mistakes on its topic. Click See results. See What is a Review Lab?
  • "You've completed all … questions for …": you've answered every question at that difficulty on that topic. Pick another difficulty or a broader topic. Everything you answered counts.

Your answers aren't saving

If you see "Your answer could not be saved. Please try again.", your connection likely dropped. Check your internet, then click Check again. Every answer you've already checked is saved, so reloading the page is safe: the session picks up where you left off.

Still not working?

  1. Reload the page. Many display problems clear on a reload.
  2. Check which account you're in. If your progress seems gone, you may be signed in with another email. Settings shows your current email under Change email. See Create an account and log in.
  3. Report it. Email hello@aniko.ai with your account email, the page, what you expected and a screenshot, or tell the AI tutor, which can pass a report to our team. See Contact Aniko support.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Ask it to add a study session, Review Lab or practice test on that day. Tasks it adds count toward your mastery and score estimate, but not toward your plan completion or the Lock-In Challenge.

Only if a setting is the cause, like a past test date or a day that isn't a study day. Saving rebuilds your plan from today, and your plan completion starts again at 0%. See Change your study plan settings.
