Score estimate, predicted score and guaranteed score
Updated
Aniko shows you 3 scores, and each answers a different question. Your score estimate is what you'd likely score on the SAT today. Your predicted score is where you can expect to be on test day if you follow your study plan. Your guaranteed score is the minimum Aniko expects you to reach by then, so it's lower than your predicted score.
| Score estimate | Predicted score | Guaranteed score | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tells you | Your level today | Your likely score on test day | The minimum you should reach by test day |
| Where | Current Score Estimate on Home, and Aniko Estimate on the SAT scores chart in Analytics | Above the Study plan bar on Home, like Predicted score: 1470, and in Study Plan Settings | Under the Study plan bar on Home, like Guaranteed: 1390+, and in Study Plan Settings |
| Appears | After your first full or half practice test, or enough answers in every domain | After 1 full practice test and 8 plan tasks | With your predicted score, if your SAT is far enough away |
| Changes | When you finish a study session or practice test | When you change your plan settings, reset your plan or join the Lock-In Challenge | With your predicted score |
Your score estimate
Your score estimate runs from 400 to 1600, with a score for each section, and moves as you practice. See How does the score estimate work?
Your predicted score
To unlock your predicted score, finish:
- 1 full practice test with both sections, from your plan or one you start yourself.
- 8 study sessions or Review Labs from your study plan. Tasks you, the AI tutor or a human tutor add don't count, and neither do your sign-up diagnostic, lessons or short tests.
Until then, Home shows your progress under Unlock your score guarantee.
Your predicted score looks ahead to test day, assuming you follow your plan. It doesn't move as you study day to day. It updates when you save a change to your test date, study days, intensity, focus or practice tests, reset your plan, or join the Lock-In Challenge. Changing only your target score doesn't change it.
Your guaranteed score
Your guaranteed score appears with your predicted score when your SAT is at least 14 days away. With Premium, Unfair Advantage or sponsored access, it shows until test day if your access started at least 14 days before your SAT. It changes when your predicted score does.
The guaranteed score is the one the Score Guarantee covers. The guarantee comes with Premium and Unfair Advantage, or eligible sponsored access, and it needs your checklist done, including 90% plan completion. See How does the Score Guarantee work?
Why the scores differ
- They're about different days. Your estimate is today; your predicted and guaranteed scores are test day, so early on your estimate is usually well below them.
- They update at different times. Your estimate moves with every session. Your predicted score stays put until you change your plan, so your estimate can catch up with it, or pass it.
- A practice test is one sitting. Its Test Score is that day's result. Your estimate combines all your answers on Aniko.
- Official scores sit beside your estimate. An official SAT or Bluebook score you add appears next to it on the SAT scores chart, but doesn't change it. See Add an official SAT or Bluebook score.
Frequently asked questions
Your predicted score is where your plan should get you by test day. Your guaranteed score is the minimum Aniko expects you to reach, so it's lower. The Score Guarantee covers the guaranteed score, not the predicted one.
No. Your guaranteed score is about test day, after the rest of your study plan. A practice test shows where you are now. The gap is the progress your plan is built to make.
Your predicted score already assumes you'll keep improving as you follow your plan, so one good or bad week doesn't change it. Your score estimate is the score that moves week to week.
Yes. Saving a change in Study Plan Settings, other than your target score, updates your predicted and guaranteed scores. It also starts your plan completion again at 0%, which matters for the Score Guarantee's 90%. See Change your study plan settings.
