Who can see my chats with the AI tutor?

Updated

Your chats with the AI tutor aren't public. Other students can't see them, they never appear on your profile, and a human tutor you connect with can't read them. Our team can access them when needed, to run and improve the tutor, to help you and to keep Aniko safe, for the uses the Privacy Policy describes.

Who can see your chats

  • You. Each chat stays in your account where you had it, such as on Home, in a study session or in a lesson.
  • Anyone logged in to your account. Chats live in your account, so keep your email account to yourself.
  • Not other students. Your public profile shows your progress, never your chats. See How does Aniko use my data?
  • Not a human tutor. If you connect with a tutor through a tutor code, they see your profile and study plan, not your chats. See Redeem a code or invite a friend.
  • Our team, when needed. We use chats to deliver and improve your tutoring and to keep Aniko safe and fair, so our team can look at them for those reasons, for example to fix a problem you tell us about.

What the AI tutor sends us

The AI tutor can send our team a short note, for example about a bug you describe, an idea you have or something that's making studying hard. It can also keep private notes about you, like a goal you mentioned, to use in later chats. Neither is ever shown publicly.

Are my chats used to train AI?

We use your chats to deliver and improve your tutoring, and we don't sell them or use them for third-party advertising. The tutor runs through a service provider that processes your messages on our behalf. In the Privacy Policy's words, we "do not permit it to be used to train third-party models for purposes unrelated to providing Aniko to you."

Your chats are never used to measure our ads. We don't attach your real-world identity to them: beyond the email on your account, they belong to your nickname-based study profile.

How long chats are kept

Each chat keeps your recent messages so the tutor can follow the conversation. When a chat gets long, its oldest messages are removed. When you delete your account, all your chats are deleted with it.

What not to share

The AI tutor is there for SAT prep, so it never needs your personal details. Don't send it:

  • your full name, address, phone number or school;
  • sign-in codes or payment card details;
  • photos of ID documents, or screenshots that show personal information.

The AI tutor isn't a counselor. If you're going through something hard, see Where to get help if you're struggling.

Frequently asked questions

No. There's no button to delete a chat. Deleting your account deletes all your chats. For any other request about your chats, email hello@aniko.ai from the email address on your account.

Not through Aniko: there's no parent view of your chats. Your chats are in your account, so anyone logged in to it can see them.

Partly. Each chat keeps its own conversation, and the tutor's private notes about you carry across chats. See What can the AI tutor do?
