What happens if I miss a challenge day?

Updated

Missing a day's requirement drops you from the Lock-In Challenge and uses 1 of your 3 lives for the round. You can rejoin from the Challenge page while you have lives left.

The Lock-In Challenge is an opt-in competition where you do a minimum amount of your study plan every day and compete in a league of students at your level. See How does the Lock-In Challenge work?

What drops you

  • Missing the daily minimum. See What counts toward my daily minimum?
  • Not finishing a required full practice test on its day.
  • Changing your settings below the challenge minimum in Study Plan Settings, such as removing a study day or lowering your daily questions.
  • Deleting or moving plan tasks so a challenge day falls below the minimum, or moving a required full test.

Each day is checked once it's over in your time zone, so you have until midnight. For a settings change or a task change, Aniko warns you first: "This will drop you from the Challenge". When you're dropped, we email you the reason and how many lives you have left.

Important

A change below the challenge minimum drops you as soon as you confirm it, even in the middle of a day.

Rejoin the challenge

  1. Go to the Challenge page.
  2. Click Rejoin Challenge. The hearts under the button show the lives you have left.
  3. Choose to start today or tomorrow, then confirm.

Aniko rebuilds your plan for the challenge, and your daily requirements restart from the day you chose. Your points stay.

When lives refill

Your lives refill to 3 when the next round starts, at midnight Pacific time. Lives you didn't use don't carry over.

If you use all your lives, you sit out the rest of the round. A refill doesn't put you back in the challenge. You still click Rejoin Challenge. Close to the challenge's end, there may not be enough time left to rejoin, and the page says so.

Your points and league place

Being dropped doesn't erase your points. Points from earlier rounds stay on the challenge leaderboard, and the work you did this round before you were dropped still counts toward your league place.

While you're out, your work doesn't count for the challenge, and days you're out don't count as completed days. Your league points for the round grow with your completed days, so a drop costs you some of them. Your bigger limits also pause until you rejoin.

Leave the challenge

There's no leave button. If you stop, you're dropped after the first day you miss, which uses 1 life. After that, missed days don't cost more lives, and you stay out unless you rejoin.

Your study plan keeps going as it is. Once you're out, you can change any setting in Study Plan Settings without a warning.

Frequently asked questions

Most likely, some came from tasks that don't count: only plan tasks marked Challenge do. See What counts toward my daily minimum? If you think a day was counted wrong, email hello@aniko.ai with the date.

No. The AI tutor can't change your lives or your challenge status. Your lives refill when the next round starts.

During the challenge, your study days, domains, section focus, daily questions and weekly full tests must stay at or above the challenge minimum. Saving a change below it drops you and uses a life, after a warning. You can still move your SAT date or raise your daily questions.

No, as long as it's the test date your plan has been preparing for. See What counts toward my daily minimum?

Once your SAT date passes, your plan stops adding new tasks, but challenge days still need their minimum. Set your next SAT date in Study Plan Settings right away to keep getting daily work. If you're done with the SAT, you can stop, and you're dropped after the first day you miss.
